PDAO commemorates the 44th NDPR week

Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) celebrates last week the fifth day of the 44th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week at Museo Antiqueno, Old Capitol, San Jose.5
Numerous Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) from different municipalities of the province gather to attend the program in achieving equal access to education, employment, and livelihood towards the empowerment of persons with disabilities together with the Antique government.
On behalf of Governor Cadiao, SP Mayella Mae Plameras-Ladislao, OIC-Governor gave her inspirational message for the 44th NDPR week.
“The resolution that I passed is maga require sa tanan nga government units to incorporate the data profiling of PWDs with PhilHealth,” she said. “Governor Cadiao is in full support when it comes to PWD projects.”
According to SP Plameras-Ladislao, the Provincial Ordinance No. 2019-188 is an ordinance adopting the community based inclusive development (CBID) program for persons with disabilities in the province of Antique and its municipalities as provided by Republic Act 7277, a magna carta for disabled persons and the presidential executive order no. 437.
Also, the program included the symbolic distribution to various municipalities of CBID equipment Doctron 3002 ES Tens Machine that is a physical therapy equipment used to stimulate nerves and muscles of the body.
Moreover, Antique PhilHealth took part in the symbolic distribution of MDR (Member Data Record) and Identification Cards (IDs) to the first six local government units (LGUs) namely Libertad, Belison, Bugasong, Lauan, and San Remegio which submitted the lists data of their PWD members.
In this year’s celebration of NDPR week, PWD Heroes were awarded due to their excellent distribution for their active role in uplifting the PWD community.
Edison Sta. Romana, assistant PDA officer, bullied because of his orthopedic disability, is one of the 44th PWD heroes.
“This is a challenge for me kay kang san o ko lang gn accept ang pagka PWD ko,” Sta. Romana said.
According to him, he is giving his civil service for the empowerment of their community’s advocacy.
“Acceptance is an empowerment to yourself kag sa isigkapareho mo nga PWD,” he added.
Furthermore, the Association of Persons with Disability Antique (APDA) officers had their oath-taking ceremony.
Ruben Balbuena, APDA President, said that a disability is not a hindrance to functioning as a valuable individual to the community.
Republic Act No. 7277 as amended by Republic Act 9442 is an act providing for the rehabilitation, self-development, and self-reliance of disabled persons and their integration into the mainstream of society and for other purposes. (INTERN RIVERO)
Bugasong fisherfolk missing for 2 days

Fifty-five year old Ariel Solis of Barangay Zaragoza, Bugasong has been reported missing since Sunday evening, June 26, 2022, after he failed to get home when he went to check fish traps in Cangaranan River in Brgy. Ilaures.
Solis was last seen at 4 AM that same day getting inside a tricycle in Brgy. Ilaures wearing maong pants and a white t-shirt.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) conducted search and rescue operations this morning in coordination with the Bugasong MDRRMO. All reports for the missing person can be directed to the Bugasong MDRRMO, PNP, or PDRRMO Operation Centers. (PIO LAVEGA)
