Based on the recent report from the Provincial Engineer’s Office, almost 40% of solar-powered streetlights has been installed already in some access roads going to tourist areas in the province of Antique.

According to Engr. Inocencio Dajao, Provincial Engineer, this project was initiated by Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao because the lady governor wanted to uplift the tourism industry of the province.

A total of 1870 units of solar-powered streetlights is expected be installed by August 2021.

This project has already begun in June 2020 with an allotted budget of Php 148,300,894.23

“Natapos run kadya naton nga na-installan kang solar street lights ang nauna kadya ang mga karsadahon nga paagto sa tourist area pareho kang halin sa Villahermosa paagto sa Imparayan road, natapos run dya kag nagasablab sa tulad, ang halin sa may Tubudan going to Aningalan paagto sa Igbaclag Cave, natapos run man dya tana kag nagasablab run dya rugto. Then, dya sa San Jose nga area sa Binirayan Sports Complex, sa Swimming pool kag sa Binirayan access road ang paagto rugto sa may DENR,” Engr. Dajao said.

Other target recipients of this project include the eight (8) district hospitals of the province and as well as the national bridges along the national highway.

“So ang iban naton nga mga projects nga gina-implement amo ang mga walo naton ka mga district hospitals, ibutangan man naton dya ka mga solar-powered streetlights kag tanan nga mga national bridges, ang mga tulay bala kang mga national highway, i-light man naton dya kang solar streetlight,” Engr. Dajao added.

Engr. Dajao further stated that aside from the tourism aspect, this project can also help in reducing crimes in the vicinity where the solar-powered streetlights will be installed as well as to lessen the electric bills in these barangays.

These solar powered-streetlights are also environment friendly and cost-efficient.

“With regards sa specifications, ang aton solar-powered streetlights may 100 watts ang ana nga sulo kag may 48 hours nga lighting period kun ma-fully charged tana kun sayudon nga kun mainitan tana bilog nga adlaw, ang aton nga sulo maka-last up to 48 hours ang ana nga siga, makatipid pa sanda sa electric bill nanda kay instead nga magbayad sanda kang monthly bill sa ANTECO, dya tana libre run ang ana nga power kag 12 hours tana naga-sablab halin 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM,” Engr. Dajao further explained.

Barangay Captain of Imparayan, Hon. Rexso S. Raymundo thanked the Governor for this project, “Gapasalamat gid ako kay Governor Cadiao sa dyang streetlight nga nagtupa gid dya sa amon barangay kag sa iban pa nga mga projects nga nagsurulod rugya sa amon barangay.”#JAN2021
