Gov. Javier’s reforestation project kicks off in San Remigio
San Jose, Antique – The father and son duo, Governor Exequiel Javier and Antique Lone District Congressman Paolo Javier, spearheaded the Tree Planting Activity in Evelio B. Javier Memorial National High School, Tubudan, San Remigio last July 17 as a first wave of their provincewide reforestation project.
According to Gov. Javier the reforestation project is the realization of his martyred brother, former Gov. Evelio Javier, “dream for greener Antique”. He said that “Evelio loved the trees and the birds, the rivers and the seas.”
He further that his administration is serious in protecting the environment and that the people have the big role to play. He encouraged the barangay folks to plant seedlings of fruit bearing tress and other variety of trees such as narra and acacia, these seedlings will be bought by the provincial government instead of putting up nurseries in every barangay which is very expensive.
