Solong Bridge, Finally done!


The Solong Bridge construction project started during the term of then Governor Salvacion “Sally” Zaldivar-Perez.  The Sanguniang Panlalawigan in their 21st Regular Session through Resolution No. 200-2003, sponsored by then Sanguniang Panlalawigan member Eric C. Otayde, initially allotted Php. 9,837,056.60 as counterpart for the first phase of the construction. In succeeding years the local government has appropriated a total of Php 90.2 million for the equity on the project. The Department of Public Works and Highways gave its counterpart amounting to Php 100 million pesos. The total cost of the project amounted to Php 190.2 million.  The Solong bridge was considered as one of the longest steel bridges in the Panay Island.

Discovering Nogas Island


Travelling a few minutes from the shore of Anini-y, across the clear blue water of the ocean you’ll see a single island surrounded by trees and a thin white line bordering its entrance.

Nearing the mystical island, you’ll clearly see the corals and the richness of the biodiversity underneath. As the shore becomes clearer, unexpectedly the whiteness of it was not caused by fine white sand but by coarse sand, crushed pebbles, bleached corals and remains of seashells; thus, it drew the line between the sea and the virgin forest.
