The Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO) in the province of Antique headed by Mrs. Ma. Vivian T. Barillo shows a constant yearly increase in their generated net revenue in their Annual Production Report.

In 2015, when Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao started as an interim governor, the ENRO was able to produce a net income of P 1,619,564.05 and produced a total of P 2, 624, 924.16 the following year with a noticeable increase of 62 %.

With just the 1st and 2nd quarter of 2017, the office already generated a net income of P 2,552,630.88, and by July it is expected to surpass the net revenue of last year. 

One of the devolve environmental services that the Environment and Natural Resources are catering is the Mines and Geosciences Services wherein it regulates sand and gravel extraction.

“We are also the ones responsible for the processing of the documents in the issuance of the permit, as per our provincial ordinance 2010-58, only those with quarry permit approved by the governor is authorized to extract sand and gravel in our rivers,” Barillo said.

Out of this activity, they are required to pay 25 pesos per cubic for every sand and gravel removed in the river where their area was approved.

The increase in revenue is indicative of the efficiency of the government in implementing ordinances in service to the people towards a better future. –PIO Antique
