SAN JOSE, Antique – Forty two persons with disabilities (PWDs) received wheelchairs from the provincial government.

This was part of the provincial government’s continuing assistance to PWDs through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.

Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao, Vice Governor Edgar Denosta, Provincial Social Welfare Officer Lazaro Petinglay and various stakeholders led the distribution of wheelchairs to the beneficiaries.

The wheelchairs were custom-built for the PWDs’ physical condition to ensure that each wheelchair perfectly fits the recipient’s body.

Families of the recipient-PWDs were thankful to the government for helping their sector.

“The wheelchairs will help improve the lives of the physically challenged, especially those who badly need the wheelchairs but cannot afford getting one,” expressed the families of the recipients.

The activity was also attended by several government agencies that support the programs for the PWDs.

The program with the theme “Health and Wellness Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities Towards and Inclusive Development for all” started with a hataw, or dance exercises fit for the PWDs. (PIA Antique/PN)
