The National Telecommunication (NTC) Regional Director Nestor P. Monroy, is in Antique to spearhead the establishment of a unified radio communication network system for the Municipal Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Officers (MDRRMO’s) of the Province.

According to RD Monroy, the unified radio system will serve as a unifying system for MDRRMO to enhance their communication within the coverage area during disaster and it can also be used for security purposes.

Monroy also said that Iloilo’s Second District has already established the Rapid Emergency Telecommunication (RETT) which helps the MDRRMO’s to relay messages faster and more efficiently by using one radio frequency.

“Communication is very vital in times of emergency so there is a need for the MDRRMO’s to have a unified communication system”, Monroy added.

He also said that they are planning to put up the repeater system in an upland area somewhere in Hamtic or in Mararison Island in Culasi so that the radio transmission can also reach the nearby provinces.

This year’s Annual Program Planning on Leadership and Empowerment (APPLE) of the MDRRMO also discussed about Barangay DRRM Plan Template, Orientation on the Utilization of LDRRM funds, Organization of RETT and Initial Organizational Planning, Provincial DRRM Plan and DRRM related Ordinances.
