Seven Antiqueños whose age reached a hundred and above received their certificate and cash incentives given by the national Government through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) at the Antique Provincial New Capitol last Tuesday, October 24, 2017.

Republic Act No. 10868 otherwise known as the “Centenarians Act of 2016” gives benefits and privileges to Filipino centenarians that reside here in the Philippines and abroad. A letter of Felicitation from President Rodrigo R. Duterte and a monetary gift of Php 100,000 shall be given to the living centenarian.

The centenarians who received the said grants were:

  • Criseta Sandig, 101 years old, Tobias Fornier
  • Apolonaria Articlla, 101 years old, Libertad (deceased)
  • Tarcela Tuyo, 100 years old, Bugasong
  • Teodoro Barcelo, 100 years old, Bugasong
  • Dolores Calubiran, 100 years old, San Jose
  • Magdalena Odango, 101 years old, Sibalom (deceased)
  • Lourdes Alolod, 100 years old, Culasi

The award was given by Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao together with Vice Governor Edgar D. Denosta, Gretchen Taleon from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office Region VI and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Mr. Lazaro G. Petinglay.

A total of 35 Antiqueño centenarians have already received their benefits and incentive including the seven recent recipients.

“These will aid in the strengthening of the Social Sector in the community”, Governor Cadiao said.

According to the Governor this is a part of the administration’s thrust in giving the Senior Citizens a comfortable life during their later years; The provincial government is also giving an honorarium through the program “Ang Kabalaka ni Gobernadora kay Lolo kag Lola” with an amount that corresponds to the person’s age: 85 – 89 years old. Php 2,000; 90 – 94 years old, Php 3,000; 95 – 99 years old, Php 5,000 which will be given once to each age bracket.An additional Php 10,000 shall also be  given to the centenarians in whom the provincial government planned to increase to Php 30,000 by next year.
