Antique Governor Rhodora Cadiao was elected as the new  chairperson of the National Economic and  Development Authority  (NEDA) Board Regional Development Committee (RDCom) for the  Visayas last August  25,  2017 at Seda Hotel, Iloilo City.

 RDCom is composed of chairpersons, co-chairpersons, and vice  chairpersons of the Regional Development  Councils of Western  Visayas (RDC-VI), Central Visayas (RDC-VII), and Eastern Visayas (RDC-VIII).

 She is the first governor from Western Visayas elected as head of this Visayas-wide body. She promised to  pursue the “One Visayas” vision which promotes common development agenda for the Visayas area.

She is also the current chairperson of Regional Development Council of Western Visayas (RDC-VI).

As the Chairperson of RDCom, she will preside the quarterly meetings of the committee and represent the Visayas area during NEDA Board Regional Development Committee Meetings (DRD).

Gov. Cadiao, in her message, welcomed the members and guests to Iloilo City. She accepted the responsibility as head of RDCom Visayas and called for the need to unite and for the Visayan regions to help resolve developmental issues that are commonly being experienced in the most fragmented area of the country.

Furthermore, the meeting also tackled the conducting of feasibility study on the proposed Inter-Island Link Bridges in the Visayas and power connectivity and plans for an increased air and sea transport connectivity within the Visayas regions discussed by Engr. Rafael S. Lavides of the Department of Transportation and Director Antonio E. Labios of the Department of Energy.

The said meeting was also attended by NEDA Assistant Secretary Mercedita Sombilla and Asst. Secretary Jonji Y. Gonzales of the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas, as well as RDC-VIII Co-Chairperson Atty. Roy Bernard Fiel, RDC Vice- Chairpersons and assistant regional directors from the three regions.
