Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) members Errol Santillan and Jhon Dindo Lignig, together with Ms. Juliana O. Cepe, the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator, attended the Regional Workshop on National/Regional Strategic Priorities and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Alignment. The two-day workshop was held last August 1-2 at MO2 Westown Hotel, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.

The workshop’s main discussion focused on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) also called as the “Agenda 2030.” This is a new program under Duterte’s administration which aims for a “sustainable development” and “leaving no one behind.”

Agenda 2030 has 17 goals which include addressing poverty, hunger, water and sanitation, quality education, infrastructure, climate change, marine protection, and more.
In addition, the said workshop discussed topics such as national priority development strategies and commitments, disaster risk reduction and management complying with the Sendai framework, national security policy, and more.

The workshop also aimed to “capacitate concerned provincial government functionaries on relevant processes for plan harmonization and alignment with national priorities” and “ensure readiness of the provinces to present in the Provincial Strategic Direction Setting Conference the provincial Strategic Directions Aligned with the PDP 2017-2022, RDP, SDG, Sendai, Framework, RDRRM Plan, and the National Security Policy guided by the PDIP alignment form.”

It was agreed during the workshop that attendees are to relay the discussion to provincial level.
