(traditions, antiquities and living tapestries)
Bugasong is one of the few place where traditional weaving is still alive. Brgy. Bugtasun’s main product is the patadyong, pre-hispanic skirt which has found fancy among modern designers.
The town also prides itself as Antique’s rice granary and as depicted in its “Bugas sa Lusong Festival” celebrated every 2nd week of January which aims to foster cultural and spiritual renewal. It is also a way of thanksgiving for the protection and blessings from Sr. Sto. Nino, their patron saint.
Climb up the Estaca Hill and view the town in the watchtower. Trek some more steps uphill and discover Villa Siga, an 8 MV Hydro Power Plant, envisioned to add renewable energy for Antique.
Hungry after the climb? Drop by that carinderia along the highway and savor native chicken adobo at its best. Bugasong is 43 kilometers from San Jose de Buenavista.
